Welcome to Encounter Kaikoura
Located on the east coast of the South Island, Kaikoura is one of the most picturesque places in New Zealand. It is famous for the spectacular marine life that inhabits the coastline including whales, dolphins, albatross, penguins, fur seals and orca.
Encounter Kaikoura has been providing boat tours to swim with and watch the dusky dolphins and other wildlife since 1989. The business is owned and operated by 3 local business partners with a passion for the rich environment in which they have lived in all their lives.
Dolphin Encounter specialises in providing an exhilarating experience of swimming or watching wild dusky dolphins in their natural environment off the Kaikoura coast.
Albatross Encounter takes advantage of the epic diversity of albatross species and numerous other pelagic birds all located within 15 minutes of Kaikoura’s coastline.
2.5 hours drive north of Christchurch and 2 hours south of Picton.
A beautiful sunny day at Café Encounter, Kaikoura. Café Encounter is a fully licensed cafe located onsite. Full breakfast and lunch menus offer local produce, great coffee and a fantastic selection of local wines.
In 2009 Encounter Kaikoura formed a charitable trust and named it the Encounter Foundation. The objective of the Foundation is to support or initiate projects that primarily enhance the natural environment, both locally and further afield.Read more » Donate today »
